1. MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL - AWAITING THE LORD PATIENTLY
Awaiting the Lord patiently
Devotional text: Psalm 40:1-4 (NIV)
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside false gods. Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
Dear Friends
Our world has become such a rush with the norms of leaving home, studying and getting married and settling down, that a lot of people without thinking rushes into an occupation just to keep up with the treads of the world. Nobody wants to be caught napping and therefore, they would everything possible to achieve their goals not even knowing what it is suppose to be. When things just seems as if it doesn’t want to fall into place, people out of desperateness cries out to the Lord, asking him to help them to understand what is happening.
On our roads in South Africa, we tend to see people swearing at one another, while driving not knowing that through their not be patient, they endanger the lives of other motorist’s. Times of trail are exactly serving the role of teaching us how to be patient while being kind to ourselves by allowing God to help us, knowing that with Him we will be reaching the destination that he has intended for us. A promise that God will pull us out of the mud in which we find ourselves and putting our feet on solid ground. Treading water and mud soon makes us weary and knowing it God outs a new song in our mouth’s, knowing and believing that a new horizon will soon be breaking upon our lives. Trusting God wholeheartedly thus becomes our focus point especially when so many people have let us down in the past. Our slimy pit becomes a pit of renewed strength and courage and therefore our Psalmist wants to inform us that our time to stand in awe is approaching and therefore, we do not need to worry about the sufferings we experience from time to time. God’s plan for our lives is thus in the process of fulfilment.
In our world, people’s impatience causes them to want to play God and that is why we hear of so many people who are predicting the end of the world, forgetting that your end may come at any time. Thinking and hassling ourselves with the things we do not have control over just steal from us the time of seeing and experience all the other blessings that life has to offer. Trusting God means allowing God to use this seemingly painful time as a time in which he prepares us for the journey ahead, thus upon waiting for the Lord one could see this period as a time for personal growth and development. Patience in itself thus is a clear visible sign to the outside world of personal growth, not in the worldly sense as such, but in a Godly sense.
To learn patience and being willing to wait in these times is something we do not necessarily want to experience, because we know that life flashes us by, but by focusing on that most of the time only causes you to become unmovable in very way. Therefore, waiting for God to help us is no laughing matter, however David received four benefits from waiting and these benefits also awaits you. 1. God is lifting you out of despair; he sets your feet on solid ground, meaning that you start to recognise your God-given vision. The third aspect is that he creates your environment in such a way, that, that God-given vision becomes a realization. Lastly, receiving the joy out of every moment on your road ahead to reach your final destination.
May you find God’s hand in every aspect of your life and may you realize what God is doing in your life right now at this very moment!! For you it may seem like a total waste of time, but for God it is making up time, leading you through the best possible route you can ever imagine. Our dreams doesn’t have to end in despair, rather the despair can serve the purpose of widening and building on the foundation that God has already laid in your lives.
Amen

2. QUOTE OF THE MONTH
“If you fall, fall on your back. If you can look up, you can get up.” - Les Brown
Falling happens daily, not only in the physical form but in all other forms known to humanity. The only thing however is that you cannot anticipate your fall until it actually happens. A child learning to walk for the first time falls a number of times and cries as a result of the shock that goes along with falling, however after a while those tears becomes laughter, since the child knows that he/she have conquered this challenge already. People fall spiritually into all forms especially, when being tempted and that not only leaves shares upon their own personal lives, but also on those who they pull down with them.
Some even fell and did not realize it until someone helps them to realize that they fell, ready to pick them up and helping them in any way possible. Falling brings pain. It creates distrust among people while the extra pain of will people be able to forgive me? Will people learn to trust me and love despite the wrong avenues I took which caused me to fall? Depending on how hard you have fallen will determine how quickly you will get up as well as the severity of your fall, whether you have broken a leg, which hinders you physically to get up. Depression thus is the brokenness of one’s being, or at least an aspect and that causes you to remain unmoved for a long period of time. Stephen likes playing rugby and after being tackled he remains for a long period lying on the ground unmoved, immediately medical personnel rushes to him to help and after a while he gets up and the game can continue. After the fall Stephen landed on his stomach, which showed the crowd that he was probably lights up for a while. In life the position you came landing also tells a story of what has happened and will determine how quickly you will get up.
Les Brown reminds us of the best possible way to fall, on our back facing upwards. And so it should also be in our religious life. When we fall admit to God that we have fall, see the people God immediately send to your rescue and know that that he is present knowing that you have the strength to get up again. Getting doesn’t mean the pain is getting lesser, but it means that you are well on the way to recovery. Talking and acknowledging your sickness helps you to see the light in the end of the tunnel. One thing we should remember true character is shown when you can fall alone without bringing someone else down with you. Character is shown when you can get up at some point knowing and learning from that painful experience. Also know that when you have fallen people around especially those who saw you falling also experience that pain and therefore they are the ones who is looking up on your behalf through prayer and other means, trying their utmost best to give an alternative , which is less painful than what you have experienced even though you cannot see it right away. This became very clear to me when I fell through the discussions I had with people involve in my falling process and that one is only able to understand, when you look up and see them standing over you talking to you and sharing with you how they felt in the process during your fall and this should make you even more compassionate towards such individuals. When you fell getting up means looking the reality of that fall into the eyes and thinking of the way how to get up again, asking by-standers to help you. Falling means that you have become vulnerable and dependable on others. It creates a feeling of loneliness and despair. It creates a situation of anger, how stupid could you have been to fall into such a trap?
Falling requires action, even if the action you take means that it has become a life changing factor, one that alters the route and direction in which your life is heading, from your own idea to God’s idea. Falling means that you need to get back you the point of the impact, revisit it and start again not letting things there and not dealing with it, since leaving it there creates self-doubt and resentment. Finish what you have started and see whether there isn’t a point why God has guided you in that area, which you have tried to avoid. By avoiding the issue which caused you to fall, only creates an illusion that becomes your life and world view. If people say to you after a fall, you can’t know you can, since the fall has happened before you have ever reached your destination. By looking up you become aware of God’s presence in a new and profound way. You see Him and not the cause of your fall, knowing that God is aware of the real causes which caused the fall in the first place and therefore you do not need to judge anyone, since God is your main witness in the case and since He is the judge as well, He will judge accordingly at the same time.
Looking up and looking at Him by discussing your situation with Him brings you to a solution, fitting and right for you. Finding this solution and discussing it with others is the key ingredient to the process of reconciliation and healing. It all thus begins and ends with God and how you view and land after your fall.
Falling makes you more sensitive to God’s voice; it is during that moment where you are laying on the ground, the lowest point in your life, where God meets you personally. Falling makes you aware about the situation as well as the situation others find themselves in and that creates a window to a new beginning for all people who is directly involved even though they might see it only at a later stage.
In conclusion, falling isn’t a bad thing in itself, it’s how you respond and what you do after that and that only you and the One who stood right besides you will know the outcome of that. It also reminds us of scripture which teaches that we shouldn’t be a stumbling block for one another rather we should be people who is willing to remove it for them ourselves, which brings an ultimate end to the ideology which I call “Individualism” We live for God and therefore we cannot or shouldn’t live without one another.
So remember, the next time you are falling LOOK UP AND REACH OUT TO THE ONE WHO WANTS TO LIFT YOU UP, NAMELY JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

3. E-MAIL RECEIVED FROM KENYA - RE: MENTORING
On the 13 July, Kehrhahnministries executive received an e-mail from a woman from Kenya named Eunice Nyakara who lives in the Western part of Kenya in a remote village called Metembe, Kenyenya District, Gusii County.
She shared with us about the work that she and her team is doing in that village. Under their care are 12 Orphans and food and clothing is a great necessity. Furthermore she shares with the executive that there isn’t proper housing which causes a problem especially during the rainy season, since there is no proper shelter and as a result of that the children are exposed to deceases with is common in Kenya during the rainy season. Furthermore, she requested that people help her in obtaining bibles since bibles is very scares in that area. Kehrhahnministries will take this matter up with the Bible society in Kenya in order to help her obtaining the bibles.
She also requested that we keep this project in prayer and requested us to do the mentoring from our side in South Africa. Kehrhahnministries executive members are planning to visit that region in the near future to examine the situation in which she finds herself. We ask our readers to please consider this a possible project and allow this woman to fulfil her calling in that remote village. Since Kehrhahnministries is not an organization who works with money, we are calling upon NGO’s world-wide to look into this matter. Please also bear in mind that since she is in a remote village in Kenya, communication might be a problem and Eunice will probably have to travel a distance in order to get internet access, therefore her response might take some time. I urged the world community not to give money, rather building material, food clothing and thus alleviate their immediate need. Her e-mail address is as follows if you would like to get hold of her personally.

. This e-mail address is legitimate and we have already corresponded with her in this regard. A copy of this e-mail is available upon request from the executive and it will be forwarded to you in due course upon receiving such a request. Furthermore, we are delighted to see that our message have even reach the people in rural Africa and therefore are delighted to be of some help to them , showing that that multi-media can do wonders in the work of God.

4. E-MAIL RECEIVED FROM INDIA - WANT FELLOWSHIP
On the 20th July 2011, Kehrhahnministries received an e-mail “Indian Gospel Mission” in India, who wants to enter into fellowship with us. Kehrhahnministries CEO Georg Kehrhahn and his Deputy Roland Rieseberg has been invited to an Indian Gospel Mission in Chitoor from the 1st to 15 October 2011for a meeting in which discussions will take place regarding building and strengthening ministry networks around the world, to empower one another even more by sharing information of what is happening in their area. Its aim is also to learn from the different projects, which is already happening within its own ministry ranks.
As a criterion in becoming part of our ministry the aims and objectives of that particular ministry must be set out clearly in order for the executive to develop a program with such ministry which is founded on common grounds. Therefore this ministry is qualifying to join our network. There aims and objectives or vision is as follows:
- 1000 churches to be planted in India only.
- 1000 missionaries to be send throughout India
- Orphanages to be started in specified areas throughout India
- Outreach clinics to be started where people can receive free medical treatment
- Bible colleges
- Pastors retreat centres which will encourage fellowship among the pastors
- Institutions for helping the poor handicapped, widows and leprosy
- Every month free eye care clinics
- Construction of 1000 churches in India
This is possible since the leadership had been in this form of ministry in the last 12 years and therefore the executive is very excited to see how things is done there, which to my mind could be very useful information, which Kehrhahnministries executive can implement in our outreach project in Kenya, which is also a new and first international project for us. Discussions regarding this will continue as we prepare for this visit to India. You are welcome to learn more about the work that they are doing on www.igmission.in A link to this website can also be found on our website, under the Ministry partners section. To Rev Balaraman Samuels and his team welcome to Kehrhahnministries and thank you for sharing in our vision of making God’s word alive through practical intervention.
All e-mails are obtainable upon request as our Organization seek to be open and transparent. This you could do via our address

5. VIEWING LIFE FROM A PERSPECTIVE OF A PART-TIME COFFEE SHOPPE MANAGER
People come in and go, rushing to buy some food, which is like a pit stop in the race of life. Ambulances racing past in order to get to an accident outside of town, while a mother becomes impatient with her child as she struggles to carry heavy groceries bags to her car or trying to walk to the taxi rank in order to go home.
Customers fighting with staff, trying to show the world that here they are the boss or causing a scène, wanting their one minute fame in front of other customers, not caring what others might be thinking of the whole ordeal. Abnormal tracks bringing through their big loads causing people to stop and stare at the amazing loads that they are carrying. For the coffee Shoppe manager a lot is seen as he takes his break from a lot of paperwork and getting things in order, caught in his own thoughts while all those things are happening around him, being aware that this is way Jesus had to come into this world to bring peace.
A world which is in such a rush and has got so many frustrations is in deer need of it. On the other side of the street, sits a street child wondering what is he/she going to do today, to much freedom it seems but a raging war within, while making his plan to buy some food or glue in order to get his next high, hoping that after that high things would have changed around.
The Coffee Shoppe manager sees a lot and wondering when all this would end. Drivers breaking the road rules on a daily basis, knowing that what they are doing could cost their lives all because they have to meet their destinations. It’s pretty much a messed up world, knowing that even though God seems to be far away, stands right in the centre of it all, directing us all safely where we need to be. God must be here, since without him things would be worse, realizing at the end of each day, how His hand brought you safely to the ones who needs your care.
Father God
I happen to be even though all the things I see. Be with Thy people in their hour of need and let know that You are holding Thee in your love and mercy, they can never flee.
Amen
